In December, 199 thousand 259 road motor vehicle registrations were recorded
Regarding the vehicle registrations in December, cars accounted for 45.3%, followed by motorcycles 38.3%, small trucks 9.7%, tractors 4.7%, trucks 1.2%, minibuses 0.4%, buses 0.3% and special purpose vehicles 0.1%.
The number of road motor vehicle registrations increased by 9.3% compared with the previous month
In December, compared with the previous month, the number of road motor vehicle registrations increased by 148.4% for special purpose vehicles, 29.0% for tractors, 17.4% for small trucks, 13.1% for motorcycles, 4.9% for cars while it decreased by 29.0% for trucks, 18.1% for buses and 8.6% for minibuses respectively.

The number of road motor vehicles registered increased by 45.3% compared with the same month of the previous year
In December, compared with the same month of the previous year, the number of road motor vehicle registrations increased by 107.0%, 59.6%, 49.6%, 47.1%, 47.0%, 15.0%, 5.1% for special purpose vehicles, cars, motorcycles, buses, minibuses, small trucks and tractors respectively while it decreased by 16.8% for trucks.
At the end of December, the total number of road motor vehicles registered reached 28 million 740 thousand 492
At the end of December, cars represented 53.0%, motorcycles 17.7%, small trucks 15.6%, tractors 7.6%, trucks 3.3%, minibuses 1.8%, buses 0.7% and special purpose vehicles 0.3% of total number of road motor vehicles registered.
838 thousand 871 road motor vehicles handed over in December
Among vehicles handed over(1) in December, cars accounted for 65.7% followed by small trucks 16.4%, motorcycles 8.3%, tractors 4.1%, trucks 2.7%, minibuses 2.0%, buses 0.6% and special purpose vehicles 0.2%.
In December, 90 thousand 181 cars were registered to the traffic
In terms of the distribution of trademarks for the new registered cars in December, Renault recorded 12.8%, Fiat 7.9%, Volkswagen 7.2%, Opel 5.7%, Toyota 5.7%, Hyundai 5.5%, Chery 4.6%, Peugeot 4.5%, Citroen 3.9%, BMW 3.9%, Mercedes-Benz 3.8%, Skoda 3.6%, Ford 3.3%, Dacia 2.8%, Nissan 2.6%, Audi 2.3%, Kia 2.2%, MG 2.2%, Honda 2.1%, Seat 1.9% and the other(2) trademarks 11.5% of the total.
In the period of January-December, the ratio of cars registered using gasoline was 66.1%
Among 945 thousand 768 cars registered in the period of January-December, the share of gasoline-fuelled cars was 66.1% followed by diesel-fuelled cars with 16.3%, hybrid cars with 9.3%, electric cars with 6.9% and LPG-fuelled cars with 1.4%. At the end of December, among 15 million 221 thousand 134 registered cars, the share of diesel-fuelled cars was 35.6% followed by LPG-fuelled cars with 33.5% and gasoline-fuelled cars with 28.7%. The share of hybrid cars was 1.5% and electric cars was 0.5%. The cars with unknown(3) fuel type was 0.2%.

Most frequent engine size was 1300 or less for registered cars in January-December period
Within 945 thousand 768 cars registered to traffic in January-December period, 33.2% had 1300 or less, 23.4% had 1401-1500, 19.6% had 1301-1400, 10.5% had 1501-1600, 5.7% had 1601-2000, 0.7% had 2001 and above engine size.
In January-December period 342 thousand 175 of cars registered were grey
Within 945 thousand 768 cars registered to traffic in January-December period, 36.2% of them were grey, 26.8% were white, 12.3% were blue, 11.3% were black, 7.4% were red, 2.7% were green, 2.0% were orange, 0.6% were yellow and 0.5% were brown.
Average age of vehicles registered to traffic was calculated as 14.5
By the end of 2023, the average age of 28 million 740 thousand 492 road motor vehicles registered to traffic in Türkiye was calculated as 14.5. Average age was 14.1 for cars, 15.8 for minibuses, 15.8 for buses, 13.6 for small trucks, 17.9 for trucks, 11.6 for motorcycles, 14.8 for special purpose vehicles and 24.4 for tractors.

In Türkiye the average age of 10 million 551 thousand 762 road motor vehicles handed over was calculated as 12.8 in 2023. Average age of handed over vehicles were 14.0 for cars, 12.6 for minibuses, 11.7 for buses, 11.6 for small trucks, 14.7 for trucks, 4.7 for motorcycles, 15.6 for special purpose vehicles and 19.7 for tractors.

(2) Number of cars aggregated under „Other“ refers to car trademarks for the publication of which a „written consent“ is not available as required by the „Turkish Statistical Law No:5429 Article 13“ or to those that fall outside the top 20 in terms of the new car registration numbers in the relevant month.
(3) Unknown includes the cars for which the type of fuel field in the license was entered incorrectly or left blank.
